Cal Parker's "TINWIND"
(Tinni Three)
|
For many years people had heard Cal Parker talk about his "two place Teenie", but he would never tell them much about it. Nor did he make any atempt to sell plans for it. To most it was just a myth. To the OLD TIMERS it was real. In 1962 Cal brought the "TINWIND" to the Rockford EAA convention. It was all aluminum, POP riveted constuction, with a Lycombing O-290G4 engine. It had folding wings. She did not fly until 1963 and Cal did not finish the plans until 1971. After Cal had flown her he sold her. She was destroyed in a car accident while being trailered to her new home.
While he finished the construction manual in 1963, he did not update the drawings until 1971. By 1971 Cal was so involved with the "Teenie Two" I doubt he had time to worry about the TinWind.
While going through Cal's papers I found the original updated plans. They consist of nine (9) large pages with a full size layout of the ribs. Considering the time period they are quite complete and should be fairly easy for a minimumly experienced builder to build from.
Below are some pictures of the original TinWind, and some information from "Jane's all the worlds aircraft 1965".
